Scott and Shawn Puyleart founded Puyleart Brothers Construction LLC in 2001. To help everyone better understand who we are as builders, we decided to compose a written history, which we pass on to every new and prospective client. This gives our clients a chance to get to know who we are and how we feel a house should be build.
To start out, we will give some background information about each of us. First myself, Scott, I was born and raised in Green Bay. I attended and graduated from Green Bay East High School, I went on to the University of Wisconsin Platteville. While at Platteville I studied Building Construction Management. I started working in the construction industry at the age of 17. My first job in the construction industry was with a local cabinetmaker, Valley Cabinet Inc. While I was in high school I worked with them for two years. After graduating high school in 1995 I began working with a basement contractor. I was a general laborer for John J. VanVonderen Basement Contractors Inc. I set forms, poured concrete, and all other duties that go along with pouring basements. After two years I decided that I wanted to move on to home building. I started with Murphy Development, Inc. as a framer. I worked there during the summers and my school breaks until 1998. After my time at UW-Platteville I went to full-time with Murphy Development Inc. I was then hired by Ken Baumgart, Baumgart Construction, Inc. I worked with Ken full time learning all I could from a reputable and established builder. I stayed there until 2000 when the opportunity arouse to start Puyleart Brothers Construction. So as you can see I have a wide range of experience.
Now Shawn whom is one of my younger brothers. Shawn also was born and raised in Green Bay. He attended Green Bay East High School. Shawn’s start in the industry was as a framer for Murphy Development, Inc. He started with them at the age of 18. Working with Murphy Development, Inc. for a total of three years. This allowed Shawn the chance to hone his skills in framing. From there he was hired by Baumgart Construction, Inc. His time there was spent learning the tricks of the trade from one of the areas most knowledgeable builders. His employment came to an end when the opportunity to start Puyleart Brothers Construction came. As you can see Shawn has a good back ground in the industry.
With a combined 24 years of experience we are not as young to the industry as our ages may show. To go along with our extensive work in the industry we have been members of the Brown County Home Builders Association since 2001. And earned builder status in the association by completing all of the requirements. We have built a great number of homes in the area. Ranging from large to small and from as far south as Wrightstown to as far north as Lakewood.
We are a small company with two full time employees and one seasonal employee. As one of the few builders in the area who are 100% hands on. We frame, side and do all finish carpentry in our homes. By doing this, it allows us to over see all aspects of our homes, from no smoking in the home to picking straight lumber. Quality is our goal not quantity. We build each and every home as if it were our own. Our work speaks for it self. Shawn and I have a very good eye for detail and are at the homes every day to interact with the homeowners on a day-to-day basis. We are different from many builders in the way we conduct business. We are open minded with all our homeowners, if we think that something could be changed to make it better or more appealing with little or no cost to the homeowner we suggest these ideas. We also can and do take the homeowner through the house as much as possible to go over any ideas and progress very regularly.
