Recycling
Puyleart Brothers has made a conscious effort to reduce the amount of waste during construction. By doing so we are able to do what many are not and that is build an entire house and only have ONE dumpsters worth of garbage. The following are things that we do in every project:
1-Reduce the amount of job site waste
By us doing all of the framing, siding, and finish carpentry. We consciously save pieces that we feel can be used elsewhere.
2-Recycle all aluminum
We have a bin designated for aluminum for cans, soffit, fascia, and anything else that might be aluminum.
3-Recycle paper products / cardboard
All of the sub-contractors know not to throw any cardboard into the dumpster, any found in the dumpster is removed and added to the pile that is set aside and hauled to Georgia Pacific.
4-Recycle scrap wood
We put all the burnable scrap wood onto a trailer and it is taken by people who use it for campfires or heating.
5-Recycle wire scrap
A little known fact is that the copper electrical wire used is recyclable. We request that our electrical contractor recycle this or we will.
Building Green
Building Green is a process that can be defined many different ways. The nuts and bolts so to say is that a house is built with environmentally friendly products, creates a healthier environment inside, and reduces the amount of energy used. As an Energy Star builder who is building some of the highest rated homes in the state. We use environmentally friendly products like OSB, Recycle plastic products when applicable, Cellulose insulation, etc.
In addition to that we are building a tighter more efficient and quieter home. Largely in part to the 2x6 exterior walls in combination with the insulation system. With the Blown-In-Blanket system we have an R-value of 23 in the exterior walls. The attics are blown in to an R-value of 45 and the sill boxes are sprayed foam creating an R-21. Along with the basic way we build a house and the Energy Star products used, our homes are not only environmentally friendly, they are also comfortable.
